from Primitive Pianos

(2 March 2010)

there was a Russian prostitute
there was Gypsy music
there were gin and tonics
there were struts and ruts
& mock turtlenecks
there was a bumbling
there was an opening and closing
there was time
time and a wish
for more time
what might have
lubricated today
does not
lubricate tomorrow
the sea was behind us
the sea continued
the sea continues
i’ve built my house
among the winds
